Tips for Preventing Bad Dog Breath.

Most bad breath in dogs is caused by a buildup of bacteria in the dog’s mouth. Certain persistent bad breath can also be a symptom of a greater underlying health issue.  It’s important to pay attention and have regular vet checkups which include oral health for your dog.
According to the ASPCA’s website...

Many people assume that bad breath in dogs, especially at a certain age, is a “given”—but that’s not the case. In fact, being proactive about your pup’s oral health will not only make your life together more pleasant, it’s smart preventive medicine.

The ASPCA’s site lists the following tips for prevention of bad doggy breath:

·  Bring your dog in for regular checkups to make sure he has no underlying medical issues that may cause halitosis.

·  Make sure your vet monitors and tracks the state of your dog’s teeth and breath.

·  Feed your dog a high-quality, easy-to-digest food.

·  Brush your dog’s teeth frequently—every day is ideal. (Please be sure to use toothpaste formulated for dogs as human toothpaste can upset a canine’s stomach.)

·  Provide hard, safe chew toys that allow your dog’s teeth to be cleaned by the natural process of chewing

·  Give your dog well–researched treats formulated to improve breath odor.

·  Discuss home-use oral health products with your veterinarian to see if there’s a type he or she recommends.

Anatolian Shepherd

The Anatolian Shepherd is large and powerful and is commonly used as a guardian dog. Historically, these dogs have lived outdoors their entire lives. The dog may be suited to stay outside for the majority of the time, but can also be bought indoors in open spaces. It is a good idea to keep valuables and fragile items out of the way when these dogs are in the area since the dogs are fairly large. Highly intelligent and easy to train, these dogs are very quick at picking up new skills and are generally not a suitable fit for beginners. They are patient and protective of their owners, children, and loyal to their families. They are natural protectors and do not require extra protection training. They can get along with many types of animals but tend to take a dominant role with other dogs. Anatolian Shepherds need a lot of exercise and they will perform at their best when they can run free in the yard. This is why a fenced-in yard is so important, and it can be very beneficial for owners to create a wide area and space for their dog. They tend to enjoy running alongside with you in parks and beaches, or playing with a Frisbee. They are excellent with 'fetch' games and can become very efficient.

They want to understand and please their owners. However, if a Puli gets bored, he will get destructive. Sometimes they even chew the hair off their own legs and feet. The Puli is very alert, wary of strangers, and makes a good watchdog. He will warn you if a new car pulls into the drive, if a cat walks across your yard, or if a plastic bag blows onto your property. He is family dog, rather than a one person dog. He is an ideal playmate and guardian for children, particularly when he is raised with them.
