Black Russian Terrier

This Black Russian Terrier (pictured above) belongs to one of our long time customers and lives with a Bedlington Terrier. Originally bred as a guard dog this robust  and strong terrier will need daily exercise. The breed is highly intelligent and with proper socialization is friendly with its family and guarded with strangers. The thick coarse coat will need professional grooming to maintain. Overall a great dog for a family with other dogs.

Bedlington Terrier

One of our customers has a Bedlington Terrier (pictured above), what an interesting breed!  With its woolly coat and graceful shape the Bedlington Terrier gives the appearance of a lamb. This dog can run rather fast so outdoor play and regular exercise is necessary. Professional grooming is advised to maintain the dense coat. Overall, the Bedlington Terrier a good nurtured, gentle dog. This breed would be an excellent choice for a family with children.

Adopting a Senior Dog.

Older dogs need loving homes and make great pets! It is a staggering statistic that hundreds of older dogs will find themselves homeless and in shelters facing certain death simply because, they are unwanted due to being older. A dog reaches older age around age 7.

It is common for shelters to euthanize older dogs first because they are less likely to be adopted as pets and are sometimes in need of medical care. Older dogs have several advantages over puppies when considering adoption. Most have been trained in basic commands, they are calmer and make instant companions, and as a fully mature dog its temperament has been established, what you see is what you will get.  Older dogs can still learn and function quite well with new families, in fact, providing them with a loving home environment may be just the only thing an older dog needs.

At Dog Cheap Sleeps we support the care of older dogs with our line of waterproof, 4 inch thick foam dog bedding/crate pads. We understand the special needs of older dogs that may need the extra padding and ease of cleaning/sanitizing our beds provide.

Please follow the resource links and consider adopting an older dog for your next pet.
