Lowchen

Lowchen means "little lion dog". They are often called this due to the way their fur is cut during grooming sessions. The Lowchen (pronounced lerv-chun) is a cheerful, lively, affectionate dog. Sociable and intelligent, it is eager to learn. These dogs are fearless, but gentle and sensitive. Lowchen usually learn quickly and present little difficulty in their training. They are good with children and usually will do okay with other dogs as well as non-canine pets. A lot of times they will usually be "top dog" even though they are not the biggest dog in the house. If necessary it will defend its house with intense barking. They are not hyperactive, but some may bark or dig a lot.

Border Collie

The Border Collie is a herding dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep. They are typically extremely energetic, acrobatic, and athletic. They are often cited as the most intelligent of all dogs. In January 2011, a Border Collie was reported to have learned 1,022 words, and acts consequently to human citation of those words. As a result, an alarming number of border collies end up in shelters and rescues every year. One of the prime reasons for getting rid of a border collie is their unsuitability for families with small children, cats, and other dogs, due to their intense desire to herd; this was bred into them for hundreds of years and still one of their chief uses outside the household. But if you are an active person, this dog is perfectly suited for you!

Labrador retriever

The Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. The Lab is native to Newfoundland, where it worked side by side with fishermen catching fish that came loose from the lines and trained to jump into the icy waters to help pull in the nets. The Labrador is highly trainable. Labrador Retrievers will do okay in an apartment if sufficiently exercised. They are moderately active indoors and will do best with at least an average-sized yard. The Labrador Retriever is loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. They love to play, especially in water, never wanting to pass up the opportunity for a good swim.
