Rhodesian Ridgeback

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a hearty breed with a distinctive short easy to maintain coat. This breed was part of the hunting dogs transplanted around the world from Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. These breeds include the Great Dane, Mastiff and Greyhound. They were originally bred for hunting large game. The Rhodesian Ridgeback was known to take down lions in the South African plains. Its present-day counterpart is better known as a friendly dog which is loyal toward the members of its family and shy and defensive with other dogs. The well-natured Rhodesian Ridgeback needs moderate daily exercise;  it would make an excellent jogging partner. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are low maintenance as far as grooming goes.  Follow our resource link for more information.
