The German Spitz dog comes in Standard, Medium and Large size in many different coat colors. This rare pure breed dog makes an excellent watch dog. They are alert, curious and always busy. It will be necessary to teach this dog when not to bark! These dogs will need daily grooming due to a coat that mats easily. German Spitz need moderate exercise daily and would be suited to apartment life as the companion to an elderly person. A nervous dog, the German Spitz can be snappy towards children. It's best to give obedience training early and establish yourself as leader of the pack with this dog.
