The exact date of origin of the Chow Chow is unknown however the country of origin is China where there is record of the breed for hundreds if not thousands of years. This breed is extremely protective and would make an excellent guard dog. Chow Chows need moderate exercise daily. The Chow Chow has a smooth think coat. The dog tends to look like a small bear cub. Grooming needs are high. Combing every other day with special attention when shedding - daily combing will be necessary.
